Strength & Courage: Exercises for Breast Cancer Survivors
Fitness for Breast Cancer Recovery and Beyond
With Strength & Courage: Exercises for Breast Cancer Survivors, you can work at your own pace in the comfort and privacy of your own home to resume the range of motion and strength you had before your breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
If you follow the guidelines in our Strength & Courage: Exercises for Breast Cancer Survivors DVD, you can begin exercising the day after surgery. Within a few months, after you have regained your flexibility, you should be ready to begin weight training and aerobic exercise. Over time, with regular use, you may even find that you become stronger than ever before.
By following the exercise guidelines on a regular basis, breast cancer survivors can improve strength, range of motion and posture, boost confidence and regain control of their personal health and wellbeing.
The exercises in Strength & Courage: Exercises for Breast Cancer Survivors are demonstrated by breast cancer survivors and led by Kathy Johnson, Licensed Physical Therapist, and Janette Poppenberg, an ACSM/ACS certified Cancer Exercise Trainer®. Peggy Finnegan, a Pittsburgh news anchor and breast cancer survivor, is the moderator. Dr. Adam Brufsky, a medical oncologist and co-director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Breast Cancer Program, explains how medical research supports the importance of exercise for breast cancer survivor.
